After looking through posted emails here, I learned that the T42 version of
CCM3 takes somewhere between 256MB and 512MB memory to be run on a single
workstation without having to use swap space.
Supposing CCM3 is run on a distributed-memory MPI environment (e.g., a
Beowulf cluster computer consisting of 8 PCs), should each node have also
over 256MB memory in order not to use swap space? Or would the memory size
summed from all the nodes need to be just around 512MB? If the latter is
the case, then each node PC with 128MB RAM would be more than sufficient.
I believe that my question will concern many other people who are
considering buying or building a cluster computer for extensive CCM
experiments.
