Hi all,
A new version of the CCM Column Radiation Model (CRM) is ready.
CRM version 1.13 is available via the CRM homepage at
http://www.cgd.ucar.edu/cms/crm
This version adds many diagnostic fields to the CRM output, and puts
in place the necessary common block for outputting even more
diagnostic fields. hanging the argument lists to the routines. For
example, the netCDF file now contains the spectral extinction optical
depths for each layer. Other fields, such as all interface level
fluxes, are now easy to add to the text and netCDF output without
changing the argument lists to the routines (just pass them through
the crmsrb.h common block), and can be added as users demand and time
permits.
The most significant use to which this new capability has been put is
to add to the printed output and netCDF files all of the SW surface
radiation budget (SRB) broken down into direct and diffuse components,
for total SW, Visible, and NIR separately. The components are
computed using the unscaled optical depths (i.e., forward scattering
peak is considered part of the diffuse field). Thus these numbers
differ from the scaled direct and diffuse components computed in
radded(). You will notice that the printed output has been cleaned up
and reformatted.
Note that this version is completely backwards compatible: no changes
are required in any input column files. This is still a CCM3 CRM,
no improvements/alterations to CCM3 are included (yet). FYI, the only
files that have changed relative to crm-1.12 are params.h, crmsrb.h,
crm.F, radcsw.F, and netCDF.F. The SRB routines may be turned off by
commenting out the #define CRM_SRB line in params.h. Using the netCDF
option now requires netCDF library version 3.xx.
