Hi ccm users,
I posted on friday asking about incorporating estabv.mods into my ccm1 run.
I have now tried it 3 different ways and still my ocean variables are exactly
the same for 150 days (doing a diff on ocean output files yields no
difference).
It is strange that some users (myself and Paul Nutter) find no differences
while Susan Marshall has found differences. I don't see how I could be
making the calls incorrectly (since I am doing them the same way Susan
Marshall has done them) but maybe I am not looking in the right place for
the changes.
I also checked the possibility that the ocean model was not coupled
correctly and it seems to be working fine. I have also looked at atmospheric
variables from the ccm1 history tapes and they are also identical for the 10
day period shown below.
I made the following runs:
test1: ccm1 control without estabv.mods (30 days)
test2: ccm1 control with estabv mods (30 days)
test3: ccm1 with ocean model without estabv.mods
test4: ccm1 with ocean model with estabv.mods

Test 1 output at grid point 20N and -90W
Variables printed out each day, processor names and units are given.

Test2 output is exactly the same as for test1. Test3 and test4 are the
same but different than the above since there is an ocean model at this
grid point.

My questions are:
1) Should I expect to see the effect of estabv.mods immediately or is
the call to this code rare so the effect may not be seen where I am looking?
2) Can anyone tell me if QFLR should be effected by this code change? The
ocean model is certainly sensitive to changes in QFLR however, it does
not care how the precipitation is partitioned between PRECL and PRECC
since it only uses PRECT.

thank you,
Uma
