A. Case Description.

/OLSON/ccm3/sld012a is a 3-year T42 seasonal simulation, using climatological monthly averaged SSTs, with Beta-CCM3 (built with the mv1 library). The SST data set is the Standard CCM3 T42 climatological SST values provided with CCM3.

/OLSON/ccm3/sld012a covers the period from 1 September of year 00 to 1 September of year 03. Atmosphere initial conditions datasets were from a simularion with a preliminary version of CCM3. Land Surface Model initial conditions were the arbitrary LSM default values. This case was run to provide consistent spun-up land and atmosphere model values.

Note: The MSS pathnames of datasets output from the Beta-CCM3 model is not the default CCM3 form. Rather it is the default CCM2 form with "ccm3" replacing "ccm2" in the second level of the pathname.

C. Output History Datasets.

/OLSON/ccm3/sld012a covers the period from 1 September of year 0 to 1 September of year 03. 24-hour averages of model fields exist on history tapes for each day of the run. Each daily average is valid for the previous 24 hours (i.e. the daily-average written at 00Z Jan 15 is the average for all timesteps during the time period of the 1st time-step after 00Z Jan 14 through 00Z Jan 15). The data are packed 4-to-1. The output data were written to the primary history tape only; no auxiliary data were written. The output data from this run were written in CCM2 history tape format.

The MSS pathnames for the daily-averaged output data from this case are:

where nnnn = 0001, 0002, ..., 0055.
