Unfortunately, I was unable to get the standard "./configure" procedure
provided with the netcdf source distribution to work on my Linux PC (though I
didn't try very hard). For those running Red Hat Linux, I did find an rpm
file that installed and ran successfully on the PC. Sorry, I don't have the
URL for it.
Regarding the earlier question about -ltiming under Linux, you should just
delete this line from your LDFLAGS. You don't need it. It refers to a
timing library used in-house for which the CCM3 distribution provides
stubs.
