2016 Sea Ice Thickness Workshop

Sea Ice Thickness: Innovative strategies to integrate measurements and modeling

The workshop topics will include:

1. The importance of ice thickness information for polar prediction and the understanding of Arctic change 
2. Ice thickness measurement capabilities 
3. Modeling capabilities and simulation 
4. Needs and strategies for combining modeling and observations, including data assimilation, satellite simulators and observing system design

The workshop format will be mostly focussed around discussion and brainstorming with a few talks about priority areas of work. The overall goal of the workshop is to determine tenable ways forward for improving model capabilities, observing strategies, and the integration of the two.
