The NCAR Community Climate Model (CCM3)

The NCAR Community Climate Model (CCM3) is no longer supported, use the Community Atmosphere Model (CAM) for the latest model that includes limited support for use of the community.

The newest version of the CCM was released on May/17/2002 with a new name -- the Community Atmosphere Model (CAM). The CAM web-page is available from:

The NCAR Community Climate Model (CCM3) is a stable, efficient, documented, state of the art atmospheric general circulation model designed for climate research on high-speed supercomputers and select upper-end workstations.

CCM3 is a free resource for scientists and graduate students in a wide array of specialties to use in conducting global modeling experiments in their particular area of expertise without spending decades of their careers developing a complete global climate model of this complexity.

Over the last 10 years, CCM0, CCM1 and CCM2 have been used by numerous scientific institutions around the world for basic research into such areas as CO2 warming and climate change, climate prediction and predictability, atmospheric chemistry, paleoclimate, biosphere-atmosphere transfer and nuclear winter. These web-pages document and distribute CCM3, the latest version of the CCM.
